(Malaysian) Fishing Vessels Near the Senkaku Islands, by Flag, 2017 年 7 月 31 日至 10 月 18 日 1

Automated Identification System (AIS) signals illustrate the movements of 380 fishing vessels tracked in the East China Sea around the disputed Senkaku Islands from late July until mid-October. The period coincides with the end of China’s annual moratorium on fishing in the East China Sea, as Chinese fishing vessels that have been docked for months join counterparts from Japan and Taiwan. The AIS data indicates most if not all of the fishing vessels in the area have been respecting Japanese sensitivities about foreign activities in the waters around the Senkakus.
